Dementia is one of the major causes of disability and dependency worldwide, as more than 55 million people currently live with dementia.1 In the era of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, patients with preexisting dementia comorbidities should be studied considering the association with severe COVID-19. The association between the two has been demonstrated by many large-scale cohort studies across different countries.2–5 Bennett et al.2 found that dementia was independently associated with severe COVID-19 [odds ratio (OR), 1.26; 95% CI, 1.13–1.41] using the National COVID Cohort Collaborative database in the United States.
