Columbia, MD – The 2014 Science Citation Index (SCI) Impact Factor (IF), which measures the average citations to articles published in scientific and social science journals, ranks JAMDA – The Journal for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine 5th in a field of 50 journals in the Geriatrics/Gerontology category. JAMDA’s impact factor has also grown from 4.781 to 4.939. JAMDA is also ranked 2nd in immediacy index, which indicates how quickly articles are cited, a value consistent with how researchers look to JAMDA’s content as soon as it is published.

JAMDA is the scientific, peer-reviewed journal of AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (AMDA). JAMDA publishes peer-reviewed articles including original studies, reviews, clinical experience articles, case reports, and other items. Established in 2000, the journal currently is indexed by Excerpta Medica, MEDLINE®, EMBASE, Current Contents/Clinical Medicine, and the Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health Literature. John Morley, MB, BCh, has been Editor-in-Chief since 2007.

"We are really excited at the growing success of JAMDA. Besides being the only journal primarily devoted to nursing home care, it has become the major journal for frailty and sarcopenia," said Dr. Morley.

Eugene Garfield, the founder of the Institute for Scientific Information, is credited with devising the IF. These factors are calculated annually for journals indexed in Thomson Reuter’s Journal Citation Reports. The IF of a journal is the average number of citations to those papers that were published during the two preceding years.
