JAMDA Announces New Senior Associate Editors
JAMDA – The Journal of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, is pleased to welcome two new senior associate editors to the editorial team: Eleanor (Ellie) McConnell, PhD, RN, and Joseph E. Gaugler, PhD. Both bring critical strengths that reflect the breadth of post-acute and long-term care medicine and are themselves prolific researchers and skilled editors.
Dr. McConnell is associate professor and director of the Geriatric Nursing Center of Excellence in the School of Nursing at Duke University. She began her career as a clinician in residential long-term care and other settings, and has particular expertise in functional decline and frailty, self-care disability, the role of the environment in promoting function, and the conduct and testing of interventions to prevent decline in persons with chronic illness.
Dr. Gaugler holds the Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care and Aging and directs the Center for Healthy Aging and Innovation in the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. His research focuses on the sources and effectiveness of long-term care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other chronic conditions. He is an expert in longitudinal and mixed methods analysis, as well as in implementation and dissemination research.
Drs. McConnell and Gaugler join JAMDA’s ongoing senior associate editors—Paul Katz, MD, CMD, and Matteo Cesari, MD, MPH—along with Co-Editors-in-Chief Philip Sloane, MD, MPH and Sheryl Zimmerman, PhD, to continue JAMDA’s role as an indispensable peer-reviewed publication for practical information and research directly applicable to health care professionals providing post-acute and long-term care, as well as policy-makers, organizational leaders, educators, and advocates.
