AMDA – Dedicated to Long Term Care Medicine (AMDA) supports the “SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014” (H.R. 4015). We are pleased that the bill permanently repeals and replaces the SGR with positive updates that will allow practices to transition into a new system focused on quality, value, and accountability. While the new proposal promises a vast improvement over the current volume-driven system, we recognize that there is much work to be done to tailor the new models of care to post-acute and long-term care clinicians. These changes are necessary to ensure access and delivery of the highest quality of care for all of our nation’s elders residing in post-acute and long-term care settings.

AMDA volunteers and staff have been working on this issue for more than a decade and I am proud of their tireless efforts to improve care for the vulnerable population of our nation’s elderly. AMDA looks forward to working with Congress to move this legislation forward and to continue to promote our mission of quality.
